The Living Laboratory Project at ECS: Beautiful False Blue Indigo Blooming in the Living Lab!

The Living Laboratory Project is a garden project at the Imagine Environmental Charter School in Pittsburgh. It provides our students a chance to do hands on activities and experiments using plants and garden animals. The garden is maintained and operated by the ECS Garden Club, which is composed of school families and community members, in association with the Penn State Master Gardeners of Allegheny County.

What's Happening in the Garden?

The garden is awake and with all the rain we've been having is growing at an alarming rate! Our Second and Third graders have been busily preparing plants for our pizza edible garden and will be planting soon. The pollinator garden looks amazing and we have added a few more perennials to fill in some empty spots. We are in need of people to come and help take care of the garden this summer! Garden After

This is what the garden looks like after planting day on May 15th. One side is full of native pollinator perennials and shrubs. The other side is a test garden where students planted potatoes in container gardens, strawberry patches and the Three Sisters in mounds.
